Prevent Null Overwrites in the Golden Record After Automerge

    Lisa Downey New Member

      Hi,

We're trying to figure out how to prevent null values in a duplicate record from overwriting existing data points on the golden record. An example:

Record A (Identified as a duplicate and will be auto merged with Record B (golden record))

      First Name: Elon

      Middle Name: <Null>

      Last Name: Musk

      Gender: <Null>

      Record B (Golden Record)

      First Name: Elon

      Middle Name: Reeve

      Last Name: Musk

      Gender: Male

We're seeing the following results after the automerge:

      Record B (Golden Record)

      First Name: Elon

      Middle Name: <Null>

      Last Name: Musk

      Gender: <Null>

We've tried deselecting "Apply Null Values" in the base table object in the Hub Console but this doesn't seem to solve the issue. Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks,

      Lisa

          Hi,

It seems both the records are flowing in from same source. With Apply NULL values disabled, during Merge scenario, MDM should have picked Not Null value of Record A over Null value of Record B but if this is not happening you could set a validation rule to downgrade trust of the columns when NULL is encountered to force higher trusted column values of A to survive over degraded trust values of B.

          Thanks,

          Rahul
