I think it should be okay to do it in a weekend when no much activity happening on the HIST and HXRF tables, without bringing MDM down.
I’m curious to know how you gonna identify latest 10 records during this activity. The table only has HIST_CREATE_DATE and not any version sequence number. You have any sql in mind to achieve this?

It would not be advicable to delete based on the number of records like last ten versions. Best to go with the date and delete the hisorty from a certain point of time.

As you might be aware there is no purging mechanism within MDM to delete the history data permanently which is older than the specified time period from the MDM tables.
The suggestion is to go for a Date Partition on the History Creation Date column and move the data to a different table space. We can have this data on backup tapes and purge the data from the MDM application.
