        Hi Michele,

        1. In Windows, you can try running 'tasklist /v' command (for Windows OS) instead of 'ps' command.

        2. From the error message, it is pointing both 8002 and 8003:

2020-06-30 09:15:10,661 ERROR [Thread 6 of 6 in DomainServiceThreadPool] [SPC_10059] The Service Manager cannot start a service process for service [Informatica Administrator]. Verify that port number [8003] is not in use, and restart the service.

java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind

2020-06-30 09:15:10,661 ERROR [Thread 6 of 6 in DomainServiceThreadPool] [SPC_10053] The Informatica service cannot start Informatica Administrator on port [8002]. Run the infasetup UpdateGatewayNode command to specify another port number for Informatica Administrator.

        3. Try to find out if any application is holding 8003 port. Check in nodemeta.xml file what is 8003 port assigned for. It could be adminstratorport, administrator shutdown port etc., Please check and confirm.

        4. Accordingly, you can run infasetup.bat updategatewaynode command to change the port.

Please update the thread with your observations.

        Thank you,

        Pavan

Hi Pavan kumar, These are my findings from looking into the nodemeta.xml file. adminconsolePort="8002" adminconsoleShutdownPort="8003" What does this mean?

            Hi Michele,

Even the Admin Console shutdown port should be available for the Admin Console process to come up.

ps -ef command cannot be used on a Windows server. You can check for the processes from Task Manager. Admin Console is a java process so please check if there are any java processes running.

Once the Admin Console shutdown port is changed or 8003 is free, I believe, Admin Console process will get started. Could you please either try to change the port or make 8003 available/free and check if it works?

            Thanks,

            Tharini.

              Hi Tharini V,

I'd attempted to change the port by doing the following:

              1. Stopped the service

              2. Backed up nodemeta.xml file and server.xml file

              3. First, based on this KB, https://kb.informatica.com/solution/23/pages/65/526995.aspx , I attempted to change the server port which in the server.xml file displayed as port 8003.  So, I ran this script: infasetup.bat updategatewaynode -sv 8004.

              4. I restarted the service

              5. Opened the Admin Console URL and it still didn't work.

              6. Opened the nodemeta.xml file and server.xml files to check if the change took place which it did not.  This is what displayed in the nodemeta.xml file: adminconsolePort="8002" adminconsoleShutdownPort="8003". In the server.xml file, shutdown was still pointing to port 8003.

              7. Checked node.log and noticed the following error which is the same as before the change.

2020-07-02 13:54:11,052 ERROR [Thread 6 of 6 in DomainServiceThreadPool] [SPC_10059] The Service Manager cannot start a service process for service [Informatica Administrator]. Verify that port number [8003] is not in use, and restart the service.

java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind

2020-07-02 13:54:11,052 ERROR [Thread 6 of 6 in DomainServiceThreadPool] [SPC_10053] The Informatica service cannot start Informatica Administrator on port [8002]. Run the infasetup UpdateGatewayNode command to specify another port number for Informatica Administrator.

              8. I stopped the service again.

              9. Ran this script: infasetup.bat UpdateGatewayNode -ap 8005

              10. Restarted the service

              11. Opened the nodemeta.xml file and server.xml files to check if the change took place. In the nodemeta.xml file, this is what displays: adminconsolePort="8005" adminconsoleShutdownPort="8003". In the server.xml file, shutdown was still pointing to port 8003.

              12. Checked node.log and see this error now:

020-07-02 14:31:51,964 ERROR [Thread 4 of 6 in DomainServiceThreadPool] [SPC_10059] The Service Manager cannot start a service process for service [Informatica Administrator]. Verify that port number [8003] is not in use, and restart the service.

java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind

2020-07-02 14:31:51,964 ERROR [Thread 4 of 6 in DomainServiceThreadPool] [SPC_10053] The Informatica service cannot start Informatica Administrator on port [8005]. Run the infasetup UpdateGatewayNode command to specify another port number for Informatica Administrator.

              13. I've also noticed now that the java process is not running anymore.

Admin page is still not coming up even after changing the server port and adminconsoleport.

                Hi Michele,

Can you confirm the below point:

Once you brought down the Informatica services, did you verified that all the processes have been stopped?

Because if the services are not shut down properly and you update the ports and try to start the services it may fail with the same error.

So, once you bring down the services wait for some time for all the processes to be stopped and then you can update the ports and try to start the services.

                Thanks,

                Asmita

                  Hi Asmita Kesarwani,

Before stopping the Informatica service, there were 80 processes running.  When I'd stopped the Informatica service, there were 73 processes running.  I'd verified that any process related to the Informatica service were stopped before changing the port.  Once I'd changed the port and started the Informatica service, there were 80 processes running again in which I'd verified that the processes related to the Informatica service were running again.

                    Michele,

I understand the problem you are facing. Looks like this issue need to be debug further, please log a case with Informatica GCS.

                    Thanks,

                    Asmita

                        Hi Michele,

                        Thanks for the update.

Since, the server shutdown port is not getting updated, could you please update the Admin Console shutdown port with an available port using the below command?

                        infasetup.bat UpdateGatewayNode -asp <available port number>

Start the services after executing the above command.

If all the ports mentioned in nodemeta.xml and server.xml files are free and available for Informatica to use, then both node and Admin Console processes should come up fine.

                        Thanks,

                        Tharini.

GCS = Global Customer Support. That's the support organisation within Informatica (often named "Informatica Support").

                          Regards,

                          Nico

                            Please check $INFA_HOME\isp\config\nodemeta.xml file.

It will give you information about ports used by node and admin console.

                              Hi Tharini V,

Running the below command fixed the issue.  Now, the Admin page comes up.  I've also noticed that the java process is running now too. Thanks so much.

                              infasetup.bat UpdateGatewayNode -asp <available port number>
