    Look-Up Characteristic in a FlexUI

    Luca Schirru Active Member

      Hello,

we have created some fields as Characteristics, and we want to put them in a FlexUI.

We are able to expose Characteristics that are free text/numbers, but not to expose Look-Up Characteristics.

Is possible to expose a Look-Up Characteristic in a Flex UI?

      if yes, how?

      Thanks.

          Hi Luca,

check the configuration guide section that talks about flexUI configuration. There is a chapter called "Characteristic values form" which explains how to show characteristics in the flexUI. There is also a template called "Item characteristics.xml" in the accelerator package with a ready to use example.

It has to be a component of its own:

          <component i18NKey="Characteristics" identifier="characteristicsDetails" rootEntity="Article" type="characteristicrecordset">

In the 10.0 release it can be further tweaked to filter down to specific categories as well if you are on that one already.

          Cheers,

          Stefan

            Hi Stefan,

maybe i do not have explained correctly the issue.

We are not using the <component> sintax, because we have to put the Characteristics in different part of the FlexUI, mixing them with other types of Fields.

The problem is only that for a Look-Up Characteristic (like that one showed in the attached screenshot below), selection menù and List of Values are not showned, showing instead the characateristic as free editable.

Also, when is inputed a value that is not present in the Look-Up, an error message appears (meaning that the Lok-Up is considered for the Characteristic).

How can this issue be solved?

            Thanks.

              Hi Luca,

thanks for clarifying. I don't think there is a possibility to mix characteristics with general fields within the same form...

              Regards,

              Stefan

                Hi Stefan,

we were able to mix both Charactestics and Fileds from Repository in the same form (as showed in the screenshot below), the only problem is that for a Look-Up Characteristic the List of Values Selection Menù is not showned.

Below, also the configuration of the Characteristic (maybe can be helpful).

How can this issue be solved?

                Thanks.

Hi Luca, I double checked once more with our engineering team but despite you got that far trying things out characteristics have for the time being a need to be shown via the characteristicrecordset component to be fully functioning. Is there any chance for you to split the two data types in two different components within your flexUI?
