XML (and JSON) are effectively LOB.
PWX today can't capture LOB datatypes.
You can add a lookup in the mapping to retrieve 98304 bytes of such data types.
(98304 is the PowerCenter limit on any column.)
Thank you Dan for your reply
I can't understand this "You can add a lookup in the mapping to retrieve 98304 bytes of such data types."
i have an oracle table with XML type i wanna make if any changes happened like if i delete a word then the pwx tell me the change? does it applicable?
PWX does not capture LOB datatypes.
That includes LOB, BLOB, CLOB, JSON, and XML.
PWX will capture the row image, excluding the LOB, BLOB, CLOB, JSON, and XML.
You can use a lookup in the PC mapping to retrieve the XML column value.
However, PowerCenter limits fields/columns to 98304 bytes, so if the XML column is longer than 98304, it will be truncated.
I beg your pardon for this "stupid" question, but where did you get this number of 98,304 bytes?
Is this a limitation in PowerCenter in conjunction with PWX Classic?
The only limit in PowerCenter itself I know of is that no single port value may exceed 100,000,000 bytes (i.e. 50 million Unicode characters).
No, it isn't about PWX-Classic.
It is possible that this has changed. 98,304 is the number that I was given for the size of a single port.
However, my PC training was... several levels ago.
I think the last time that I took PC developer classes, they were still based on 8.5.1.
OK, then please don't be angry with me correcting you on this one: a single port value in PowerCenter (no matter whether it's a binary value or a string) can hold up to 104,857,600 bytes (sorry for the mix-up in my previous email, the number of 100 m is wrong, 100MB is correct).
I strive to always be factual, but I do appreciate being corrected when I am wrong.
you said that i should use a lookup for that! so please what can i do lookup! if you help me with tutorials to make this i will appreciate
Mr Dan please i really need help, how to use lookup to make this case?
Lookup transformations have nothing to do with PowerExchange, they are part of PowerCenter mappings.
Please look up the basics of all transformations in the Transformation Guide for PowerCenter.
I know that! but how i can use it in powercenter to handle this case! i know the basic and how i can use it but i can't understand how to use it here
The record holding the XML column will have some ID attributes. These ID attributes can be used in PowerCenter as the lookup criteria.
what are those id attributes?

I wasn't ignoring you - I don't normally work weekends.
Oracle will log a row image in REDO, without the LOB.
PWX will capture that row image.
You can do a lookup in the mapping using the key from that row.
What that key is, is whatever you have as key for that table.
Nothing PWX-specific in that.
