Could not find uri with key [dfs.encryption.key.provider.uri] to create a keyProvider

      Hello,

The hivemetastore.log ( in one of hadoop clusters)  keeps reporting the above error even though we disabled the dfs encryption option. Is it mandatory to define, or is there any way to bypass this? Would appreciate any help on this.

The environment: Informatica BDE 9.6.1. HF3 Update 2 with HDP 2.3

      < Error >

      2015-12-11 19:12:06,557 ERROR [pool-3-thread-38]: hdfs.KeyProviderCache (KeyProviderCache.java:createKeyProviderURI(87)) - Could not find uri with key [dfs.encryption.key.provider.uri] to create a keyProvider !!

Thank you very much for your help,

      Martin

I would think that if you already have encrypted data on your cluster, then you can't just turn off encryption because then you will not be able to read the data that has already been encrypted.  It's possible that the Hive metastore is configured to use directories within the "encryption zone" so turning off encryption would probably render the metastore inoperable (since it needs the encryption services to get the encryption key to decode files it has previously written), or it still thinks encryption is turned on (maybe it needs a reset, maybe it needs to be configured to use directories outside an encryption zone).
