Use the datadirect driver bundled with Informatica server installer which is in INFA_HOME/ODBC6.x/lib.
Microsoft driver is not supported.
Thanks for your response. I have already connected successfully to the SQL Server from informatica using the Microsoft Driver. But the issue I have now is am not able to connect to the SQL Server with named instance in the ODBC.ini
Entry in ODBC.ini ( Successful connection using Microsoft Driver):
Entry in ODBC.ini ( the connection is not working):
Could you please help me in understanding whether Microsoft ODBC drivers will not support the SQL Server named instance connectivity? Thanks in advance!!
You can use Microsoft ODBC drivers to connect both default/named instance SQL server, however Informatica does not certify these 3rd party drivers. We always recommend customers to use the datadirect drivers provided by Informatica as it is already tested and certified.
Regarding your issue : If your requirement is to connect to Named Instance SQL server, ensure that the "Microsoft SQL server Browser service" is enabled on the database host machine. (Contact DBA).
Thanks you for the prompt response. Actually, we are using the Informatica software that came with Oracle BI apps package. I could see Data direct drivers have been installed already in our Unix server. but am not able to locate the driver file for SQL Server. could you please help me in locating the correct driver file for SQL server in ODBC6.0/lib folder.
I will definitely check with DBA on the Microsoft SQL Server browser service option is enabled or not.
Maybe If you fill the Port field in odbc.ini, then you do not need the instance name
Try Server=Servername\Instancename without filling the port field
I have tried the option Server=Servername\Instancename without filling the port field, its still throwing an error not able to connect to the server. The port for the SQL server is a dynamic one.
@Syed - I have confirmed with DBA about the Microsoft SQL Server browser service option. Its enabled and working fine.
Is there any way I can download Data direct drivers certified by informatica from online? I'm checking for possible options to resolve this connectivity issue.
Data direct drivers are already on your PWC platform (shipped with it) in $INFA_HOME/ODBC7.x
