When I try to ping the server using "sh infacmd.sh ping -dn Domain_cch1utbia7 -nn Node01_cch1utbia7" command, I get the error Domain did not ping back...
I have tried starting the SERVICE / DOMAIN from Server / tomcat / bin directory using :
"sh infaservice.sh startup" command.
This command shows message:-
Starting Informatica services on node 'node01_cch1utbia7'
Using CURRENT_DIR: /root/Informatica/9.5.1/tomcat/bin
Using INFA_HOME: /root/Informatica/9.5.1
But when I try running Administrator Tool, it doesnot run...
Also, when I try shutting down Domain using "sh infaservice.sh shutdown" command, it throws error that Node_cch1utbia7 is not available...
"[ICMD_10033] Command [ping] failed with error [[INFACMD_10053] Domain [infa_domain] Host:Port [informat-dev1.corp.adobe.com:6005] has failed to ping back.]" when domain does not start in PowerCenter 9.0.1
In PowerCenter 9.0.1, the domain fails to start during installation or while starting it manually. The following appears in the installation log:
Command Executed : /pmserver/Informatica/PowerCenter9.0.1/isp/bin/infacmd.sh ping -dn infa_domain -dg informat-dev1.corp.adobe.com:6005 -re 240
Exit Code : 255
OutPut : [ICMD_10033] Command [ping] failed with error [[INFACMD_10053] Domain [infa_domain] Host:Port [informat-dev1.corp.adobe.com:6005] has failed to ping back.].
The following is displayed in Catalina.out:
Starting Tomcat on HTTP port 9001.
Domain service init method is called.
Then the port accessible error is displayed.
The issue occurs when a hyphen is provided in the hostname while defining the domain.
To resolve this issue, use IP address for the hostname instead of the actual hostname.

Can you share the node.log and catalina.out files on this discussion?
pls check detailes node.log /catalina.out/
Why do you always have this additional "sh" at the beginning of every command line? That doesn't make much sense to me, and in fact there are some things that need not work correctly when executing such statements (in particular setting / changing environment variables), hence the question.
As Yogesh has mentioned, if the reverse DNS lookup doesn't work for the host name, the domain usually cannot start up. So this is another point to check.
are you using which server background (like linux/aix)
Thanks for the useful replies. I have observed the same and the details are as follows.
I tried the same as explained by you but still received the same error.
I have attached the node.log & catalina.out. Came to know that there were some errors in these logs . I did understand some points from the logs but not all.
I have used "sh" because I am using PUTTY for connecting to the Red hat Linux server & the version of putty that I have, does not allow to execute scripts except when prefixed by "sh " OR "./"
Try executing the commands with ./ at the beginning, that may help in one or the other place.
To be honest I'm not 100% sure about it, but I think it's worth a try.
I'm already being able to run the commands using the "sh" as well as "./" the issue is that an error is getting occurred while the machine is attempting to start the Domain.
The solution seems useful as I also received a similar error (Channel is in state 7). But,the Administrator Tool is also inaccessible as I'm unable to start the Informatica Service.
Seems like I've got to contact Informatica Online Support for this issue as I've now received an error like this: (from Catalina / node log files)-
Cannot start node because of the following error: [[RSVCSHARED_00105] The repository content for Repository Service ['ISP-Repository'] requires an upgrade to version ['126.96.36.199.0'].].

From Catalina log, I could see that the Domain service is unable to connect to the Database. Try to connect to the Database from the ETL server and verify the ETL JDBC connection format.
After plenty of Error-resolving attempts, I took a break for an hour & then thought of trying again before raising a service request to online support...
Guess what:-- Despite of all errors being filled in into the Catalina & node logs, The Server was accessible .
So the Cause of the Problem was :- Linux Machine was slow to respond & it took 1 hr 15min. for Informatica Service to be completely started on the RHEL OS.
Thank You all for the help.
I get the below error when running below.Does anyone encounter the same issue. Please let me know
Cannot start node because of the following error: [[RSVCSHARED_00105] The repository content for Repository Service ['ISP-Repository'] requires an upgrade to version ['188.8.131.52.0'].].
Obviously you have an older repository in the database (version 9.1?), and you need to upgrade it before you can use it in 9.6.1. To be honest I'm a bit astonished about this message.
Start the repository service in Exclusive mode, then perform the repository upgrade, and finally restart the service in Normal mode.
Beware that once you've upgraded the repository you will no longer be able to work with it with any client other than 9.6.1 HF1, neither with (for example) a 9.1 Designer nor with a 9.1 Integration Service.
