Pushdown optimization scenarios

You can configure pushdown optimization using the Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL Connector or the Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL ODBC Connector in mappings.

Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL Connector

Important: To configure pushdown optimization using the Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL Connector, verify that your organization has the Mappings-Advanced Pushdown Optimization license. To get the license, contact Global Customer Support.
You can use configure pushdown optimization for the following scenarios when you use Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL Connector in mappings:
Source and target endpoints
Supported pushdown scenarios in mappings
Pushdown optimization type
Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL source
Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL target
Reads from and writes to Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL using the Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL connection.
Source, Full
Microsoft Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 source
Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL target
Reads from Microsoft Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 using a Microsoft Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 connection and writes to Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL using a Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL connection.
Full
Note: You can use the Secure Agent or the Hosted Agent to run mappings enabled with pushdown optimization.

ODBC Connector

Important: Informatica recommends that you use the Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL connection in mappings to configure pushdown optimization. If you cannot push down specific transformation logic using the Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL connection, you can explore configuring pushdown optimization using the Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL ODBC connection.
You can configure pushdown for a mapping that uses a Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL ODBC connection to read from and write to Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL.

Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL source
Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL target

Note: You can use the Secure Agent to run mappings enabled with pushdown optimization.
Note: You cannot configure pushdown optimization for a mapping task that is based on an elastic mapping.
