Connection switching example

You want to upgrade your existing mapping that uses the Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse V2 connection to use the Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL connection.
Before you switch the connection, perform the following steps:
  1. 1. Open the existing Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse V2 mapping that you want to upgrade to Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL.
  2. The following image shows an existing mapping that uses the Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse V2 connection and contains the configured advanced properties in the Target transformation:

  4. The configured target object in this example is: emp_conn_tgt.
  5. 2. To retain the mapped fields from the field mapping when you switch the connection, on the Field Mapping tab, choose from the following Field map options menu in the Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse V2 mapping:
  6. 3. To switch the connection, in the Connection field, change the connection from Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse V2 to Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL.
  7. 4. In the Change Connection dialog box, select the following properties, and click Yes:

  10. 5. The object from Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse V2 is retained.

  13. The configured target advanced properties from the Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse V2 mapping reflect in the Target transformation.
  14. 6. If you had selected Manual on the Field Mapping tab in the Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse V2 mapping and you want to reflect the field mappings in Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL, on the Field Mapping tab, select Automap, and then select Previous Mapping.
  15. Note: If you had selected Automatic in Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse V2, you do not have to perform this task.
  16. 7. Click Save.
  17. In the following image, the configured mapped fields from the Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse V2 mapping now reflects in the Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL mapping: The image shows the field mapping
  18. 8. Click Run.
