'Big Data' to 'Data Engineering' Product Portfolio Renaming

Version 1

Data Engineering has quickly emerged as the market’s preferred term to describe the capabilities already available in this product portfolio. Data Engineering is used by other leading technology vendors such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Databricks. Additionally, companies investing in next generation analytics are using the term Data Engineering to describe roles and skillsets for positions that are in very high demand. Informatica’s Data Engineering portfolio (formerly known as Big Data) is not new. It is the industry’s leading set of products for data engineering capabilities in the cloud, on-premise, and in hybrid environments. We have updated key pieces of the collateral and website for the recent Fall Launch. We plan to update the product user interfaces with new names by the end of Q2, 2020.

We've recently announced a new name for our Big Data product portfolio. The new name is Data Engineering, and the announcement was made at the Fall Virtual Launch Event on Tuesday, September 24th. We changed four product names, shown in the picture below. For clarity, the picture also shows two products, Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) and Enterprise Data Preparation (EDP), whose names are not changing.
