Ultra Messaging version 6.12.1 (6.12 HotFix 1) has been released to shipping and is available immediately to all licensed customers.

 

This release includes the following key improvements:

  • UM now supports the Microsoft .NET framework on 64-bit Linux.
  • The Network Socket Busy Waiting feature can be used to prevent a context or XSP thread from sleeping while waiting for network events, such as received packets. This can reduce latency and especially latency outliers (jitter).
  • The dependency between UM and the OpenSSL libraries is now optional. If the libraries are not used, then they do not need to be present on the system.

Ultra Messaging 6.12 has been released to shipping and is available immediately to all licensed customers.

 

This release includes the following key improvements:

 

• Stateful Topic Resolution, which will dramatically reduce Topic Resolution traffic and provide improved reliability.

 

• Performance enhancements on the message receive path (lower latency, reduced jitter).

 

• Smart Source enhancements (message fragmentation, user-supplied buffers).

 

• Windows Service enhancements (main daemons uniformly support Windows Services).

 

• XSP enhancements (registration of application file descriptors, persistence).

 

• ULB performance enhancement (unicast transport sends only to the assigned receiver in a load balancing group).

This release also corrects a Persistent Store throughput regression affecting versions 6.10.1 and 6.11.

Ultra Messaging 6.11 has been released to shipping and is available immediately to all licensed customers.

 

This release includes the following key enhancements:

 

  • UMS/UMP: Transport Services Provider is a new method of assigning receivers to independent threads. It separates Topic Resolution handing from user data reception and replaces the earlier limited "Multi-Transport Threads" feature.
  • UMS/UMP: Enhanced Smart Source feature. Now supported: Persistence, Spectrum, LBT-RU transport, limited subset of Message Properties, and optional callbacks for user-directed memory management.
  • UMP/DRO: Rolling log files for Persistent Stores and for UM Routers (DRO) to facilitate long-running operation.
  • UMP/DRO: Daemon Statistics. The same Persistent Store and UM Router information currently available via their web monitors can now be published efficiently as normal UM topic-based messages. The design allows these published statistics to be collected non-intrusively so that normal operation is not disrupted.

This release includes the following key enhancements:

  • UMS: Performance (send time and jitter) has been improved for all transport types
  • UMS: New higher-performance API for sending messages via reliable multicast transport protocol
  • UMS: High-resolution packet TX and RX timestamps with Solarflare network interfaces and OpenOnload
  • UMS: Added Java API for serialized responses to enable more flexible request/response patterns
  • UMS: TCP-based communication (including DRO peer links) can be compressed and/or encrypted
  • UMP: Receiver-paced Persistence feature now supports blocking and non-blocking receivers
  • UMP: An API has been added to start and stop a UMP store from inside an application process
  • UMP: The store has been enhanced to log thread IDs for each of its internal threads

 

Additionally, all enhancements from Ultra Messaging 6.8 are generally available in this release:

 

  • UMS: More efficient processing of arriving data
  • UMQ: Robust, highly-available JMS and AMQP broker
  • UMQ: AMQP 1.0 wire protocol support for UMQ client API
  • UMQ: Fully-managed (pure Java) JMS 1.1 client API
  • UMQ: Automatic fail-over for client-broker connections
  • UMQ: Inter-operation between UMQ and JMS client APIs
