Informatica MDM – Product 360 10.1 has been released to shipping and is available immediately.

Within the same year and after launching the major release of 10.0 we are proud to bring the next key set of innovations to our customers. Informatica MDM - Product 360 10.1 comes with a rich set of new capabilities to further help you deliver more effective product content to customers across digital channels. While delivering a huge number of features towards business user experience, an equal amount of new possibilities can be found in the underlying platform services and supported use cases for enterprise scalability. We hope you enjoy this release and all the great new things that come with it.

This release includes the following main innovations:

  • The completely revamped web user interface, including new capabilities to bring user experience to the next level.
A bright and fresh appearance has been introduced for the Product 360 Web UI. This revised look and feel not only creates a new experience but also improves productivity and user guidance by highlighting which fields are editable, improving the visual correlation between elements, and many more visual enhancements.
  • Automated content enrichment with AI-driven product classification using the CLAIRE recommendation service
With the CLAIRE recommendation services accelerator, it is now possible to follow a machine learning approach to automatically classify product data into structured groups. The accelerator comes ready built and doesn't require complex manual tuning to get you started. All that's needed is to generate a model from within Product 360 that consists of existing products to structure group relationships. The model can then be used to auto-suggest or directly classify new product records.
  • Deep visibility into data changes and history with the next-generation audit trail component to democratize data for users
The history of data is a crucial asset for many users in various roles. An easy to understand visualization for historic data has been introduced including history views for granular tracing of data changes on object level and a revert functionality to bring back previous values. With that, the audit trail architecture has been transformed to the next level leveraging a lightweight document storage using Elasticsearch. Resulting into an increased performance while hardware requirements shrink down.
  • New Object API component allowing read access to complete product records by a single call
The Object API significantly improves the performance in integration scenarios requiring the full data of a single item by leveraging the use of in-memory caches optimized for single item retrieval. The perfect addition to the API stack for real-time data integration scenarios.
  • Swagger UI (OpenAPI) to provide a visual user interface when working with the APIs of Product 360
A dedicated Swagger UI utility that translates in-detail the full capabilities of the List API as well as the Management API. It offers a complete suite for interacting with these resources and their operations, thereby increasing productivity in implementations. Business users and workflow designers can quickly adopt by interacting with the visually rendered auto-generated OpenAPI specification which includes all repository-specific parameters.
  • Enhanced batching of high data load operations to significantly boost performance in enterprise deployments and setups
With the 10.0 release already the message queue communication for DQ rule executions and BPM intercommunication has been introduced to increase system robustness in high load scenarios. This has been enhanced to also include the support of batching for DQ and merge processes now, to further improve performance, especially in mass data and high load operation scenarios.

In addition, various improvements in the area of business user experience, as well as many other features and enhancements, have been included in this release, please review the release notes for details.

Informatica MDM – Product 360 10.0 has been released to shipping and is available immediately.

Product 360 continues to deliver innovations to support your use cases and marks a true major release in March 2020. The amount of additional capabilities and enhancements added with it made us come to the decision to emphasize the innovation by taking a leap in version numbering as well, calling this package Product 360 10.0. While delivering a huge number of features towards business user adoption and user experience, in general, an equal amount of new possibilities can be found in the underlying platform services and supported use cases for enterprise scalability. We hope you enjoy this release and all the great new things that come with it.

This release includes the following main innovations:

  • "Product 360° view" graph visualization to explore data relationships and take action
Product 360 10.0 comes with a new graph visualization for product, variant and item connections. With that users have new possibilities to browse and understand data and uncover insights. It makes the relationships comprehensible, but also holistic as well as quick and easy to grasp.
  • Enhanced characteristic data model on all product entity levels
The characteristics data model can now be used on all product levels including products and variants. This marks a great milestone in the evolution of the dynamic data model for Product 360. Furthermore, several measures have been taken with this release to improve the overall user experience for business users working on characteristics inside the UI. This includes thumbnails for lookups, a refined value editing UI, the possibility to optionally allow distributing categories into individual tabs and much more.
  • Elasticsearch integration for fast and comfortable index-based search requests
In an ever-growing world of data management, the index-based web search has been greatly improved with new key functionalities allowing business users to query relevant data in a fast and easy manner. With that, the previous integration with Solr has been replaced by an Elasticsearch adapter. In addition, Product 360 is now allowing direct access to all main operations available through the action menu directly within search results.
  • Full-blown assortment management via Web UI
It is now possible to manage item-, variant- and product assortments in Product 360 Web. Business users can define and manage assortments independent from an administrator and don't need to rely on assortments creation in Product 360 Desktop any longer. There is a new assortment context to display and edit assortments. Users can create assortments, manage assortment details and add or exclude objects or dynamic queries to an already existing assortment.
  • Enhanced mass data responsiveness for business user dashboards
In order to get a more responsive web user interface, the data of dashboard components is now loaded asynchronously. Each dashboard component now has a separate loading indicator and widgets loaded already are presented to users for immediate action right away while those with longer loading times will remain loading independently.
  • Exports can be distributed into multiple threads to be executed in parallel
This is leading to a significantly positive impact on the duration of an export process with the data loading and processing now being configurable to be performed in parallel execution threads.
  • Introduction of dedicated message queues for choreography between Product 360, BPM and IDQ rule engine
Message queues receive a more important role starting with this version and are important components of the Product 360 10.0 architecture. They are used for Data Quality execution as well as communication between Product 360 and Business Process Management (BPM) and allow better control of mass requests between the three instances to scale out enterprise data loads smoothly.

In addition, a completely reworked Web UI icon set, various improvements in the area of business user experience as well as many more features and enhancements have been included in this release, please review the release notes for details.

Informatica MDM – Product 360 10.0 Release Notes

PAM for Informatica MDM – Product 360 10.0

The release includes the following:

    • Versioning
A new configuration for subentities allows to enhance the possibilities to configure and fine tune which subentities should be included in a revision.
    • Computing of DisplayOrder for Tasks
The computing of the DisplayOrder during the creation of tasks has been changed. If the displayOrder is provided in Service API call then the provided value will be saved. Otherwise, a default value configured in the Repository will be used. Additionally, to the DisplayOrder the internal database ID will be used to define the sorting order of the tasks, now.
    • Media Asset
The media asset document attribute field value handling for derivatives has been changed. Now, only several attribute fields get individual values for the corresponding derivative. Some attribute fields have no value for the derivative. All other attributes have the same value for the derivative as for the original image (master asset).
    • Product 360 Web
The javascript library jquery has been updated from version 1.12.1 to 3.4.1.
    • 3rd party software
      ActiveMQ:
An updated ActiveMQ installation package is available in the Product 360 3rd party archive. Please update your current ActiveMQ installation to get the latest security patches released with ActiveMQ 5.15.9.

In addition, a number of bug fixes were included in this release, please review the release notes for details.

You can download the Hotfixes from here.

Informatica MDM – Product 360 8.1.1 HotFix 4 has been released to shipping and is available immediately.

The release includes the following:

  • Database
    • Version and Configuration
The database version handling has been simplified and reflects the PAM in a much better way: the parameter com.heiler.ppm.version.server/version.dbms.MSSQL2008 has been removed from the plugin.customization.ini and all the corresponding .template.MSSQL20xx and .template.ORAxxx template files have been unified and refactored into the server.properties file.
    • Connection Pool
The underlying connection pool implementation has been changed, it is now possible to configure pool overflow handling which means that the size of the connection pool will be automatically adjusted if necessary.
    • Configuration of available database CPUs
The server.properties configuration file contains a new parameter where the amount of available database CPUs (i.e. the amount of CPU cores dedicated to Product 360) can be configured.
    • Parallel query execution
Loading data in Product 360 usually requires the use of several queries from different tables, e.g. when loading data fields "Item no." and "Short Description".
The new fragment implementation will now automatically execute the separate queries in parallel threads which greatly improves data access performance throughout the entire application.

  • Reporting Framework
    • Internal reporting Framework
The internal reporting framework handles all data access requests and has been enhanced with a new caching mechanism.

  • Micrometer Integration
    • Micrometer
      Micrometer
(http://micrometer.io/) has been added as the preferred metrics provider. In addition to the metrics currently available via JMX there are new metrics available exclusively through Micrometer.
While new implementations will provide Micrometer metrics (e.g. the new connection pool implementation), existing metric implementations will be subsequently converted to Micrometer with upcoming releases.

  • Operation
    • GC Threads and Logging
The setting GC_THREADS has been removed from the _environment.conf file because the G1 Garbage Collector has a proper algorithm to set the optimal amount of GC threads automatically.
Product 360 Server logs the Java garbage collector (GC) activities by default. This helps to identify an unhealthy system and causes only minimal overhead to the overall system performance.
    • JMX Logging
Product 360 Server now has the capability to audit operation executing originating from JMX (e.g. using jconsole or VisualVM), the corresponding category has been added to the log4j.xm
    • OSGi Logging
The OSGi log file (OSGi is the underlying framework of the Product 360 Server) is not being placed in the workspace folder anymore.

  • Identifier Generator
    • Identifier Generator
The identifier generator will now use a database sequence called SEQ_IdentifierGenerator in the MAIN schema.

  • Media Assets
    • Define JVM initialization options for native modules
In the system parameter window of the Administration module it is possible to define JVM initialization options for native modules.
Using this there is a way to set
      e.g. the option -Dcom.sun.jndi.ldap.object.disableEndpointIdentification=true.
    • Replace tooltip with popup to show preview for image table cell
The tooltip behavior for images in the Web UI has been changed so users should now click the image cell instead of hovering. A popup window is then opened to show the corresponding image preview for more details and an additional zoom function is provided as well.

  • Product 360 Web Search
    • Multivalue fields are supported on Product 360 Web Search
Multivalue fields can be used to search and to filter with facets. It is assumed that a multivalue field has to be set as '_multivalue_' in the repository (upper-bound property is set to -1).

  • Product 360 Web
    • JavaScript library update
The JavaScript library jQuery has been updated from version 1.12.1 to 3.4.1. If  an older jQuery dependent library is used, jquery.migrate-3 will be used to ensure to be compatible with the older jQuery library.

  • 3rd Party Software
    • ActiveMQ
An updated ActiveMQ installation package is available in the Product 360 3rd party archive.

In addition, several bug fixes were included in this release, please review the release notes for details.

Informatica MDM – Product 360 8.0.6 HF7 has been released to shipping and is available immediately.

The release includes the following:

    • Runtime
Strong recommendation that customer upgrade to a 2019 release that supports Azul OpenJDK.
For customers who choose not to upgrade, they can stay on the older version, but won’t get Java security updates (they will still get Informatica updates).
For security conscious customers who are not ready to upgrade Informatica but do want Java updates, they would need to engage directly with Oracle for Java licensing procurement.
    • 32-bit clients are no longer available
Informatica MDM Product 360 Desktop client, Product 360 Database Setup Client and Product 360 Repository Manager are now available as 64-bit clients only.
32-bit clients have already been marked as deprecated for some time.
    • Detail Tab customization
Starting with this version, in case a custom detail tab has a combination of fieldGroup and tableGroup, then a fetchSize attribute needs to be mentioned in the tableDefinition which helps in identifying the page length of the defined table. This will allow the table to grow and show records, maximum up to the defined fetchSize number.
    • Media Asset
Preset Primary logical keys for "Add media attachment":

During adding a new media attachment to the item (product/variant/structure group) in Product 360 Web, all activated media asset primary logical keys should be set in the "Add media attachment" dialog.

Updated possible values for media asset document derivatives:

In the previous 8.0.6.05 version, the media asset document attribute field values for derivatives are changed, so that only several attribute fields get individual value for the corresponding derivative, and a request on other attributes return no value.

    • 3rd party software
      ActiveMQ:
An updated ActiveMQ installation package is available in the Product 360 3rd party archive. Please update your current ActiveMQ installation to get the latest security patches released with ActiveMQ 5.15.9.
