June 12th will see the second release of the new PowerExchange CDC publisher. In this release, we have made enhancements to extend platform support, improve processing capabilities as well as enhance the targeting capability of the PowerExchange CDC Publisher. The enhancements facilitate:

  • PAM
    • Apache Kafka support of versions 0.11 & 1.0
    • MapR Streams support of versions 5.2.2 & 6.0
    • Suse 12
    • RHEL 7.4
  • Security
    • Kafka configured Kerberos certification
  • General Enhancements
    • Write Performance Improvements
    • Support for Kafka Topic partitioning by table name
    • Support of a new (optional) “Published” timestamp column
    • Support of Kafka Targets environments that use Confluent Registry Schema.
    • Transaction commit markers indicating when a streamed transaction has completed

Supporting Apache Kafka and MapR Streams as distributed streaming targets will facilitate the direct writing of PowerExchange CDC data, logged via the PWXCCL remote logger, to Apache Kafka and MapR Streams distributed streaming platforms.

As always, for a complete list of features as well as instructions on how to enable them, please review the appropriate PowerExchange CDC Publisher documentation which is available for this release.

Who would benefit from this release?

This release is for all customers and prospects who wish to target Apache Kafka or MapR Streams for real time integration of PowerExchange supported Changed Data Capture sources. These targets can subsequently be used as feeds for the Informatica Big Data Streaming (BDS)/Big Data Management (BDM) products.

Why should you care?

These enhancements are necessary to expand the usability of the PowerExchange CDC Publisher and make it relevant for more customer use cases; enabling changed data capture sources to be consumed as part of Informatica Big Data Management Solutions.
