What are we announcing?

 

October 2020 will see the release of the PowerExchange CDC publisher Version 1.3.0. The release, in addition to general bugfixes, is focused on improvements related to:

 

  • Security and Logging enhancements
  • Performance improvements for the Apache Kafka Writer
  • Custom control over the output JSON and AVRO formatting
  • Release of a Beta PowerExchange CDC Publisher monitoring tool
  • Apache Kafka support of versions up to V2.6.0
  • Upgraded Apache Zookeeper version
  • Configuration controlled log4j logging options
  • Customer requested enhancements to error logging
  • Ability to suppress additional CDC-generated data from output
  • Ability to provide JSON message formats
  • Greater control over “date” publishing (selectable datatype)
  • Adding sequence data to added consumer processes for sorting, filtering, and so on.
  • Improvements to recovery processing  to help improve output writer performance

Who would benefit from this release?

 

This release is for all customers and prospects that want to target Apache Kafka or MapR Streams for real-time integration of PowerExchange supported Changed Data Capture (CDC) sources. These targets can subsequently be used as feeds for the Informatica Data Engineering Streaming (DES) and Data Engineering Management (DEM) products.

What are we announcing?

 

PowerExchange V10.4.0 Hotfix 1 ONLY release of PowerExchange Mainframe & CDC is now available. In this release, we have only made enhancements to extend PAM coverage. The enhancements facilitate:

 

  • PAM upgraded support
    • z/OS 2.4
    • Oracle 19c Support for PowerExchange CDC for Oracle Express
      • Linux support
      • Windows support
      • AIX Support
      • Amazon RDS support for Oracle.
    • SQL-Server 2019

PAM for Informatica 10.4 HotFix 1

PowerExchange for CDC and Mainframe 10.4.0 was released on December 5, 2019.

Most of this release is EBF rollups, but PAM coverage was updated, some enhancements were added, and PowerExchange CDC for PostgreSQL was released.

    • New: PWXUCCLPRT utility to read and print data from the CND files created by PWXCCL

    • Extended: DTLURDMO can now use an alternative input data set, file, or directory, and has a new TESTMODE to test how copy operations will work.

    • There is now an IBMi installer
    • PowerExchange CDC now captures from PostgreSQL

May 22 will see the V10.2.0 Hotfix 2 release of PowerExchange Mainframe & CDC. Most of this release is covering EBF roll-ups although we have made some minor enhancements to basic PowerExchange functionality as well as minor PAM enhancements. The PowerExchange enhancements facilitate:

 

  • PAM support
    • Added support for CICS/TS V5.5
  • New/Extended Utilities
    • New: PWXCATMY (MySQL) utility can create and manage the catalog
    • Extended: DTLUCBRG can now use the CREATEBICI parameter to generate before-image and change-indicator columns for user-defined expression fields that are associated with PowerExchange functions.
  • General Enhancements
    • During PowerExchange Express CDC for Oracle, block validation has been improved to validate the checksum for all blocks in the current log instead of only the blocks at the tip of the log.
    • To validate the integrity of the PowerExchange remote captured data PowerExchange now performs a checksum test of records in the CDCT file of the PowerExchange Logger for Linux, UNIX, and Windows to detect corrupted records and to avoid potential errors while reading information from the CDCT file*1.
    • For z/OS processing you can now influence SMS managed options DATACLASS and STORCLASS parameters in a CREATEFILE command used in the Pre SQL or Post SQL attribute for a PowerCenter session.
    • PowerExchange now uses catalog tables, which you create in a MySQL database, to store MySQL source table definitions. When DDL change events of CDC interest are made to the source tables, PowerExchange updates the source table definitions in the catalog to avoid errors when reading change data.

January 2019 will see the third release of the PowerExchange CDC publisher. In this release, we have made enhancements to help with customer implementations to help with Apache Kafka Topic naming, resiliency between PowerExchange CDC Publisher and Apache Kafka as well as the introduction of composite key builds for Apache Kafka topic partitioning. In addition, there are extensions in terms of PAM as well as the automatic printing of run statistics when the PowerExchange CDC Publisher shuts down.  The specific enhancements include the following:

June 12th will see the second release of the new PowerExchange CDC publisher. In this release, we have made enhancements to extend platform support, improve processing capabilities as well as enhance the targeting capability of the PowerExchange CDC Publisher. The enhancements facilitate:
